First took interest in SciFi as a kid with all those B movies; my favorite still being, When the Earth Stood Still. Then, Star Trek came along. Was involved with a couple of Sci-Fi activities in H.S. College (WVU) studied Chemistry; in and out of Monongamoot - WVU's SciFi club. Met Jo, a serious Monongamoot member who as heavily involved with MonCon III., which I attended. In fact, thanks to her, I've attended a number of SciFi conventions, including Four WorldCons (including TorCon), which I may not have otherwise attended. Been an analytical Chemist in Nuclear Power for over 35 years. Talk about SciFi come'n to life. Since 2008, I've been on the Environmental side of things, including NPDES & Groundwater Protection. Had specialized in corrosion control/metallurgy, which is now applied to Ziggy's West. A business which has existed since 1987. Favorite SciFi book: Robert Forward's "Dragon's Egg." Favorite SciFi movie: Monsters Inc.
Ya gotta include Jo (me wife Jo Anna). No, you'll not get her up on stage, but it was she who was responsible for all the meat ALL those times... well, 'cept for the pepperoni; that wuz me. Speaking of Jo, as it would turn out, I've attended Six WorldCons and two NasFics, but who's counting?
